The headjoint has never been shortened, and the plating is quite exceptional throughout, especially on the lip plate. It was tested on a commercial Haynes flute, a silver Bonneville, and a plated Lebret. On the commercial Haynes, it sang beautifully in all registers. The creamy texture of Haynes still came through, but the Cousin added another level of brightness to carry the sound even further. On the Bonneville and Lebret, the headjoint brings forth warmth and ease to otherwise rambunctious flutes. Overall, it has a lovely French glow when you use a focused airstream.

The crown appears to be non-original, possibly from a Bonneville headjoint.
