This headjoint has had only one owner who studied with Felix Skowronek (1935-2006) at the University of Washington. Skowronek was very fond of wooden flutes and headjoints, requiring all his students to play one. His favorite headjoint maker was Alexander Eppler, a fine flutemaker of wooden flutes and headjoints, and Skowronek owned several of Eppler’s instruments. This headjoint was made early in Eppler’s career, so it lacks a logo. But, we can confirm that he indeed crafted this headjoint.
