Pads show very minimal wear and the flute appears to have been overhauled and kept in its case for several years prior to us receiving it for consignment.
In its current condition, this flute plays exceedingly well. It has a loud, focused sound that you would expect from a commercial Haynes flute. Overall, this is one of the finest examples of Haynes that we’ve come across. It is very easy to play, even when you’re out of shape or don’t time to practice every day. It produces a big clean sound very readily.
Pitch-wise, it plays well at A=440 Hz with the headjoint pulled out about 1/4 inch. The scale is very reliable and consistent with very minimal adjustments in the third and low registers.
