It’s rare to find flutes from this Italian flute maker, and we’re glad we have one in our inventory. This remarkable instrument has been thoroughly cleaned, oiled, and adjusted by Gary Lewis.
The flute has several interesting features. First is the left-hand lever to operate the low B key. It also has two additional touch keys – a G# shake and a G shake. The headjoint also has a silver band above the ferrule.
The flute plays beautifully. The sound is sweet with a touch of texture, giving this flute more character than you might expect from a flute of this era. The low register is resonant and responsive. The upper registers are lyrical and fluid.
With the headjoint placed at 1/4″, the flute plays well in tune at A=438 Hz. The intonation is also very stable and reliable at A=440 Hz, with the head positioned at 1/8″ (or pushed in all the way). Only minor adjustments are required when jumping registers. Playing in tune is virtually effortless!
This flute is in excellent condition, and its original case is also in excellent shape for its age.
