Based on the embouchure cut, we date this headjoint from the late 1990 to the early 2000s. While it has a modern sound, it still has elements of the sound quality that made Powell unique among American flutes during the 1960s and 1970s. Its response is quick, and its sound is rich and consistent across all registers. This headjoint is one of the finest with a modern cut we’ve come across.
