This is quite simply the best Haynes alto flute I have ever played, and one that I regret having to sell. It has a fantastic sound, rich and smooth, and so easy to play. This flute appears to have spent its entire life in the hands of professionals who took very good care of it. I last used it myself a few months ago in an orchestra backing up Johnny Mathis.
It is in a unique, vintage, custom tweed case that is in mint condition. Even the canvas cover looks like new though the case and cover probably date from the 1950s.
The workmanship on this flute is remarkable. It was built in late January of 1935, just a couple months before the famous Barrere platinum flute. The embouchure is truly lovely.
