This flute had an overhaul earlier this year, so it plays beautifully in its current condition. No signs of cracks or repairs to the wood.
Its sound is what you might expect from a wood flute as opposed to metal – mild and gentle. The middle and upper registers are smooth with a hint of brightness. The tone color transfers evenly into the low register where you can push the sound to develop a nice core.
With the head pushed all the way in, the flute plays decently at A-440 Hz. However, the scale seems to be most reliable and consistent at A=435 Hz with the head pulled out 1/4″.
