Complete Resoldering of Toneholes and Mechanisms
Lead solder gradually oxidizes over time and pinhole leaks eventually form under the edges of the toneholes causing even a fully overhauled flute to play poorly. This may occur on any soldered tonehole flute over 50 years old. All flutes over 100 years old – Louis Lot, Bonneville, Claude Rive, Barbier, and others – will certainly require this work if it has not already been done at some point in the past. A free evaluation of your vintage flute is available upon request.
A Complete Resoldering includes all of the work of a Full Overhaul plus the following:
- Complete disassembly of the toneholes, ribs and (in most cases) embouchure to remove the old solder.
- Removal and resoldering of tenon boxes (if required).
- Complete reassembly with lead-free soft solder.
Time at the workshop: 1-2 months.

Repair and Maintenance Policy
Free Evaluations:
Gary provides free evaluations and estimates. You will only be responsible for shipping and insurance fees to and from the workshop in Eureka, CA. All estimates are good for 30 days from the date of evaluation.
Payment:
Full payment is required at the time of service. Checks, money orders, and credit cards (via PayPal) are accepted.
Warranty:
Complete overhauls and rebuilds have a full one-year warranty from the time of shipping. All other services have a six-month warranty from the time of shipping. The warranty excludes accidental damage or damage done by faulty repair performed elsewhere.
Shipping:
Additional shipping and insurance fees apply to all repair quotes. USPS Express Mail, USPS Priority Mail, and USPS Registered Mail services are offered.
