When you play the first note on this flute, you will know that you have something special in your hands. With very minimal air, this flute sings almost effortlessly. Add a bit more air, and the sound gets exponentially louder. The sound is extremely energetic at peak airflow, like a seasoned opera singer whose voice soars over the orchestra and to the back of the concert hall. It is penetrating and vibrant.
Yet, when the music calls for it, the flute can play softly with control, clarity, and lightness. You can still hear the energy in its sound, even at a lower volume. You’ll have lots of confidence playing sforzando with this flute.
The tonal quality is also consistent in all registers. Moving from one register to another or from the right hand to the left hand is virtually seamless. The low register is also very flexible, from hollow to dense, dark to penetrating, allowing you to adapt to other musicians readily. The upper third and fourth octaves sing almost effortlessly.
The flute has Straubinger pads and plays very well in its current condition. It is housed in a newer unmarked case.
