This piccolo was made during a period when Haynes was incredibly consistent with the fine quality of its piccolos, and this one is no exception. It has a smooth, beautiful sound in all registers and a good scale. The pads are well used, and the instrument would be best served with repadding, but it can still be used for a time with the current pads.
