Haynes Headjoint 17667

Back to list of flutes.

  • Made in Boston in 1942
  • Silver
  • 0.018 tubing, sized for 0.0125″
  • Embouchure: 10.46 mm x 12.29 mm x 5.07 mm (0.192″)

This headjoint has US stamped on it, which means it came from a flute made for the military. While the tubing is 0.018″, the current owner had the tenon sized down to fit his thin-wall Haynes with a smaller barrel.

We tested this headjoint on various flutes (using copper tape). With its thick wall, the characteristic creamy Haynes sound comes through loud and clear! This headjoint is an inexpensive way to achieve that classic Haynes sound without purchasing a vintage Haynes flute. For a proper fit to your flute, we recommend using copper tape rather than expanding the tenon to preserve the exceptional qualities of this headjoint.
